Survival Tips for Newcomers
Surviving the wild is no easy feat, but with a little know-how and a lot of patience, you can make it out alive—and maybe even thrive! Check out these survival tips to help you get started on your journey.
1. Resist the Urge to Taste Everything
We get it—you’re hungry. But before you go munching on every mushroom or berry you find, take a second to think: Is this really safe? Sure, it might satisfy your stomach for a bit, but some things are better left untouched. Also, avoid bears and wolves—they’re not here for friendly chats. And please, don’t spend too much time in the snow, it’s too realistic and you’ll freeze for real just by looking at it.
2. Crafting and Resource Gathering: It’s a Chill Thing
Want to survive long-term? Embrace your inner gatherer. Crafting and collecting resources is key to staying alive, but don’t stress—there’s no rush. It’s all about keeping things realistic and chill. Focus on gathering wood, stone, and tools. You’ll need them, trust us.
3. Gather, Gather, and Then Gather Some More
Trust us, you’ll never have enough sticks. Every little bit counts, so pick up every twig and rock you see. Your future self will thank you when you need to build a shelter or make a campfire. Seriously, that “I’ll grab it later” attitude will leave you in a pinch, so get collecting!
4. Don’t pet the oversized puppy!
Bears are not your friends. No matter how cute they look, they’re only interested in one thing—eating you. So, when you see a bear, maybe just… admire it from afar? It’s safer for everyone.
No, no—but now, for real: Here are some serious tips you should keep in mind to ensure you make it through the wild.
1. Start Gathering Immediately—The Day Is Shorter Than You Think
Time isn’t on your side. The sun sets quickly, and every moment counts. Start collecting resources as soon as you can—sticks, stones, and anything else that crosses your path. You’ll need them all for crafting and staying alive.
2. Craft Your First Axe
Your first priority should be crafting an axe. Once you’ve got it, aim for the thinner trees to get sticks—perfect for building more tools. Larger trees will give you logs and with those you’ll be able to craft planks for more advanced structures.
3. Craft That Spear ASAP
You’ll need it for defense. Craft a spear as soon as possible to protect yourself from predators and to hunt for food. It’ll be your lifeline when things get dangerous.
4. Stay Alert for Growls—It Might Not Be Your Stomach
The wild is full of threats. Stay on high alert for growls and noises that might signal a predator lurking nearby. Trust your instincts—if you hear it, it’s probably not a good sign.
5. Keep a Torch Ready When Night Falls—You’ll Need It
When night hits, it gets dark, real dark. Without a torch, you’ll be effectively blind. Be sure to craft one early, so you can see what’s coming and stay safe.
6. Get Leather from Any Animal & Make a Building Plan
Leather is vital. Harvest it from animals, and use it to craft a building plan. A bed will allow you to skip through the long, boring nights, making your survival much easier in the long run.
7. Don’t Be Shy—Lower the Graphics Resolution if Resources Are Hard to Find
If you’re still having trouble spotting resources, consider lowering the graphics resolution. Sometimes, a little tweak can make those vital items pop out, helping you gather what you need without frustration.
8. Did you know you can double click to eat those berries faster?
9. Report Any Bugs or Issues on the Discord Page
